Ambassador's speech on the occasion of the French National Day

Her Royal Highness, Princess Dana Firas,
His Excellency the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Mr. Makram Al-Qaisi,
His Excellency the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Eng. Raed Abu Al-Saud,
His Excellency the Mayor of Amman, Mr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh,
Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Graces,
Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am pleased to welcome you to the House of France on the occasion of the French National Day, where we celebrate the values of freedom, equality and fraternity.

Welcome to the House of France, and we are also happy to celebrate with our Jordanian friends the silver jubilee, which has proven that this country is strong despite the difficult circumstances.

The past 25 years have indeed shown that “Jordan is an achievement in the most difficult circumstances,” as His Majesty King Abdullah II said.

As for France, it considers Jordan a friendly and allied country, according to President Emmanuel Macron.
In these difficult circumstances, France continues to stand by Jordan on the political, military, economic and cultural levels.

We can say with satisfaction that bilateral relations have developed in all these areas and we have achieved accomplishments.
Among these achievements, it is necessary to point out:

1- Extension of the management agreement of Queen Alia International Airport

2- Increasing the openness of the French School in Amman at the international level by promoting teaching in the English language.

3- Developing the activities of the French Institute in Jordan through the “French Traveling Institute” in the governorates.

4- Appointing Mr. Sahl Doudin as Honorary Consul of France in Aqaba

As for the Gaza tragedy, France supported His Majesty’s initiatives to provide humanitarian aid and political solutions to preserve our humanity on this land, “the lady of the land, the mother of beginnings, the mother of endings. It was called Palestine, it is now called Palestine.”

Dear guests,

The celebration of the French National Day comes at a time when Paris is preparing to host the Olympic Games.
Above all, we wanted these Games to be more exciting than ever: for the first time, the opening ceremony will not take place in a stadium but in the heart of Paris on the Seine, overlooked by the Louvre, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower.

On this occasion, we wish all the best to the Jordanian delegation and tell them "May you have gold".

Speaking of sports, we must mention the Jordanian player Musa Al-Taamari who plays for the French club Montpellier. The star Al-Taamari is shaking up the French stadiums far and wide.

Dear friends,

Last year, I was telling you about my wonderful and pleasant trips from the north of Jordan to the south, from Aqraba to Aqaba.

Honestly, I felt like a "deaf person at a wedding" and I was new to the country.
But you introduced me to Jordan....

I learned that black coffee is poured from the left and served from the right,
and that coffee is special and tea is short,
as in “whoever socializes with a people for 40 days becomes one of them.”
I am happy that we will continue the journey next year to develop the French-Jordanian friendship.

Dear guests,

Good brevity makes sense

Finally, I invite you to enjoy French cooking and remind you that "forty mouthfuls are enough to satisfy your hunger."

Enjoy!

Thank you for coming again and long live the French-Jordanian friendship.

May God bless you
