The official language of Jordan is Arabic. English is spoken by many people in Jordan especially in the capital Amman.
Business language: Arabic but English is widely used in the business world.
local currency: The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD ), THE JOD is pegged to the dollar. There are notes of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 50 JOD. The dinar is divided into 100 piastres.
Methods of payment:
The payments in shops, restaurants, hotels, : payment is either in cash or by credit card. Credit cards, including American Express, Visa and MasterCard which are accepted in hotels, restaurants and department stores. Note that many small shops will ask you to pay in cash and Jordanian currency which is absolutely essential if you plan to shop in the local souks.

Currency can be exchanged at major banks, bureaux de change and most hotels. It is advisable to avoid street changers. The exchange rates are set daily by the Central Bank of Jordan
Entry into the territory:
Visitors with a valid passport may obtain a visa from the Jordanian embassies or consulates abroad. It is possible to obtain a visa upon arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman.
Visas are valid for 1 month but can be extended at any police station for two additional months.
Friday is the weekend. Banks, governments and most businesses are closed on Saturday as well.
Many companies, including airlines, travel agencies and some shops also close on Thursday afternoon, although department stores and supermarkets remain open.
